Intern Teacher Position

This 13 month position begins on June 16th, 2025 and continues through July 11, 2026.  

The Intern Teacher is enrolled in the Birth to Three Certificate Program, which begins on June 22, 2025.

After completion of the Birth to Three Certificate in July of 2026, the Intern Teacher has three options:

  1. To enroll in the Birth to Seven Certificate Program while continuing to work in the Child Development Program as a 2nd-year Intern Teacher

  2. To transition to a teaching position in the Child Development Program

  3. To end both the internship and employment in the Child Development Program

Compensation:

At the end of the 13 month position, Intern Teachers will have

  • a Birth to Three Certificate from Sophia’s Hearth, paid by Sophia’s Hearth

  • Early Childhood Associate Teacher credentials by the State of NH

  • a minimum of 9 Early Childhood Credits

 

1st Year Intern Teachers are paid $16/hr at 40 hrs/week, with increases in pay for 2nd-year interns, and additional increases for Early Childhood Teachers.

 

Requirements in the First Year:

  • Enrollment in the Sophia’s Hearth Birth to Three Certificate Program

  • Completion of 9 Early Childhood Credits, if needed (Sophia’s Hearth will help with the registration and process and will cover tuition costs)

  • Completion of the requirements of the NH Licensing Bureau for Early Childhood Teachers (Sophia’s Hearth will help with completing those requirements)

  • An up-to-date resume in PDF format that includes work experience, education, and other interest and activities to be uploaded

  • Personal statement in PDF to be uploaded. Please share a biographical sketch of yourself including descriptions of the following:

    • your childhood​

    • your involvement with children

    • your familiarity and experience with Waldorf education, the work of the Pikler Institute, and other early childhood educational approaches

    • reasons for your interest in this program

    • any other information you think may be helpful to us when considering your application.

  • A letter of recommendation from someone (non-family member) who can share your ability to complete and be successful in this program. Please download this form to provide to the recommender. The letter of recommendation needs to saved as a pdf and sent to Anastasia@sophiashearth.org

Internship Application

AGREEMENT FOR THE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

Students must have technological ability, own or have access to a computer, and have access to an email account. Some coursework requires use of a computer, so students must have basic word processing ability to be able to complete all assignments. Communication between the Institute and program students generally takes place via email. Some courses may have an online component so students must be able to access the internet.
