Job Title

Kindergarten Teacher

Job Description

As our founding Kindergarten Teacher, you are the bridge between the home and the world. You will be the primary storyteller, the gentle model for imitation, and the architect of a space where the young child’s imagination can flourish. We are looking for a visionary educator who is eager to collaborate with a pioneering faculty at our micro-school to bring the light of Waldorf education to our region in Idaho.

The Role
This is a foundational position that requires a deep love for the rhythmic and curious life of the young child and understanding of child development.

Rhythmic Architecture: Creating and holding the daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms in collaboration with the Rooted Meadows faculty to ensure a unified, breathing program.

Curriculum of the Heart: Developing and implementing a play-based curriculum rich in circle time, oral storytelling, puppetry, song, and purposeful artistic and practical activities.

The Art of Imitation: Supporting social-emotional development through nurturing relationships and modeling "worthy work"—from bread baking and woodworking to gardening and cleaning.

Academic Foundation: Providing a strong base for future academics by fostering curiosity, executive function, oral language richness, and healthy sensory-motor development.

Outdoor Stewardship: Leading daily explorations in nature or working in our school gardens, rain or shine, fostering a deep, "rooted" connection to the land and the changing seasons.

Community Building: Serving as the "first face" of Waldorf for our families, sharing Steiner’s insights on child development with parents new to this methodology.

Who You Are
An Operational Artist: You use creative "out-of-the-box" thinking and simple systems to manage the administrative side of a classroom, ensuring your energy stays focused on the children and the beauty of the environment.

A Collaborative Pioneer: You thrive on building something new together with others and are excited to help create school policies, traditions, and a culture of "reverence for life."

Artistic Contribution: Bringing your unique talents to the classroom—whether leading a circle in pentatonic flute, guitar, or tongue drum; guiding a watercolor painting session; or crafting various projects from nature.

Nurturing the Daily Bread: Assisting with small food preparations and the "homemaking" aspects of the classroom that make the school feel like a second home.

Key Responsibilities
Develop age-appropriate rubrics and child observations to track healthy development.
Collaborate with the Garden & Farm Instructor for seasonal planting and harvesting activities.
Contribute to planning and hosting the school’s core festivals.
Contribute to faculty meetings and the shared vision of Rooted Meadows.

Why Rooted Meadows?
Founding Impact: You will have a direct seat at the table in creating a new kind of a school that is designed to make Waldorf education more accessible and affordable for families changing the lives of many more children.

Balanced Schedule: A 25-30 hour work week designed to respect your prep time and personal well-being. This schedule also opens so many possibilities of entrepreneurial endeavors, time for personal interests and hobbies, more focus and time with family.

Life Style: Eastern Idaho is full of natural beauty and recreational resources, quaint towns full of charm, strong economies and future growth, and lower average cost of living expenses in the USA.

Community Core: You aren't just an employee; you are a founding pillar of a mission-driven community.
