 It
is the mission of Sophia¹s Hearth Family Center to support
the choices of
each family as its infants become toddlers and the toddlers become
young children. As part of this support, it is our long range vision
to create a child care program for infants and young children. As
this program is still in the planning phase, we are not able to
provide child care at the present. When a location has been found,
we will create a child care program that will care for thirty children
from three months to five years of age. Cooking, gardening, other
practical tasks and play will fill each day and give each child
joy and fulfillment.
Our program will offer:
- A warm, intimate, homelike setting filled with peaceful hours
- Family groups where children of differing ages share their days – learning from and helping one another
- Small groups for young infants who join a larger family group together with their caregiver when they are old enough to do so
- Caregivers who remain with the same children for at least 3 years, as they move through the program
- Time out of doors to walk, play, and work, in sun and wind, earth and water
- A rhythm and pace suited to the child’s unfolding abilities
- Attention to healthy food
